"Squash It" campaign started in Proletarskij raion.

Specially for the Environment Day

Rosa Vetrov project together with Proletarskij raion council prepares the launch of "Squash It" campaign, which is due on the 20th of April at 10 o'clock on the square in front of raion council.

April, 10, 2002.
Press conference on the results of public consultation on railway station square reconstruction was held in Kievskij raion council. Report with consultation results was given to Mr. Beshulya, chairman of Kievskij raion council.

March, 4-5, 2002.
Special seminar for teachers on the launch of "Bright Sparks" competition.

February, 27 - March, 2, 2002
Rosa Vetrov team started public consultation on railway station square reconstruction.

January, 28, 2002.
Meeting of all DFID projects, which are implemented in Donbass, (Rosa Vetrov is one of them). Besides progress of current projects, new project "Regeneration of Donbass" were discussed.

January, 24, 2002.
TACIS representatives visited Rosa Vetrov project office. Achievements and plans of the project were discussed. Special attention was given to practical experience of "Squash It" campaign, aimed at household waste volume reduction.

February, 1, 2002.
Rosa Vetrov develops public consultation on railway station square reconstruction, which has to start in mid February. Information about main changes will be located on our site and environmental information centre site. Follow media publications!

January, 10, 2002.
Presentation of "Social and Economic Development Programme for 2002" was made in the Session Hall of Donetsk City Council for the general public. Rosa Vetrov representatives took part. After the report on results and achievements of 2001 and presentation of planned actions for 2002, Mayor's First Deputy answered different questions. Intention to consider sustainable development principles in the city development strategy was confirmed.

11-13th of December, 2001 - workshop "Environmental Education in the Context of Sustainable Development" was held in partnership with Donetsk Teacher Retraining Institute

8-9th of December, 2001 - workshop "Environmental Education in the Context of Sustainable Development" was held by the team of the environmental education component for the students of Donetsk National University

3-4th of December, 2001 - "Partnership for Sustainable Development" project:
the second (technical) workshop took place in Sevastopol. Theme of the workshop "Waste Management. Partnership". The experts from Kharkov, Kiev and Manchester (UK) were invited.

October, 20, 2001 - Public infirmation campaign "Squash It" started in Kievskij Raion of Donetsk.

October, 30 - November, 1, 2001 - "Environmental Education in the Context of Sustainble Development" - that was the title of the training workshop which was held for teachers of Donetsk within the environmental education component of "Roza Vetrov" project.

October, 17-18, 2001 - Ukraine Sustainble Cities Conference was held as part of SEPS project.

August, 2001 - "Sustainble Development Indicators Elaboration Report for Donetsk" has been published.

August, 2001 - practical manual "How Sustainble Development Indicators Were Elaborated: Step by Step" has been published.

March to June, 2001 - "Bright Sparks" competition was held among the schools of Donetsk. The competition was held as part of the environmental education component of the "Roza Vetrov" project.

October, 13, 2000 - the first meeting of the Sustainable Cities Committee was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Beshulya.

October, 20, 2000 - Mr. Rybak, Mayor of Donetsk City, has signed the Aalborgh Charter. Donetsk has become the seventh city of Ukraine, which joined European Sustainable Cities and Towns Campaign.

October, 31, 2000 - Chris West, Environmental Advisor of DFID, UK, came to Donetsk to inspect 2 environmental projects, which are carried out in Donetsk Oblast. One of them is "Rosa Vetrov" project is being implemented in Donetsk, the other "Meotida" project has the aim to establish National Landscape Park on the Azov Sea cost and is being implemented in Mariupol.

Within "Rosa Vetrov" project the Working Groups have begun to prepare the State of the Environment Report for Donetsk on the basis of sustainable development indicators.

December, 12 MeetingWithin "Rosa Vetrov" project with the support of the State Agency of Ecology and Natural Resources and Donetsk Chamber of Commerce a new research has been started. The aim of the research is to find out the possibility of Business Environment Association establishment.

"Rosa Vetrov" project has started the development of the city environmental school competition. The theme of the competition - energy saving!

December, 22, 2000 - the second meeting of the Sustainable City Committee was held. Agenda included organisational issues, establishment of Expert Group to develop an action plan for the city on the way to sustainability, suggestions to participate in Bremen Partnership Initiative.
